Our History of Excellence
Founded in September of 2005 by Larry Werner, Wildcat Fire Service is a family-owned and operated wildland firefighting and value/structural protection business based in Bowden, Alberta.
Larry’s vision is quite simple – but honourable:
- To provide rapid, innovative, professional responses when called to duty.
- To value teamwork and serve our customers with honour and integrity, while reducing our environmental footprint and provide a safe, reliable and competent service.
Wildcat Fire Services currently holds contracts with the Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba and works closely with the Province of British Columbia. We have grown from fighting urban interface wildland fires to providing additional services such as Value protection services, dozer boss operations and most recently value protection coordinators and hotshot services.
Wildcat Fire Services is committed to providing the highest quality firefighting services possible. We strive to ensure the prevention of loss of life, minimal impact on the environment, and the loss of property. Our staff is trained in up-to-date methods, with ongoing training and technology. Our cost-effective service and commitment to our customers are second to none.
With decades of experience, we understand the pressures of dealing with the potential of catastrophic loss.

- Retired as a District Fire Chief with Red Deer County Protective Services
- Structural Protection Coordinator with the Province of Alberta.
- Structural Protection Group Supervisor for complex wildland fires in the Province of Alberta.
- Over 30 years of combined, extensive experience in Municipal, Wildland, Industrial and Oilfield fire operations.

Team
To provide the rapid, innovative, professional response required for our line of work it is important to have highly trained and experienced team members when called to duty.
The Wildcat Fire Services’ crew is the heartbeat of the company. Hired on a seasonal basis and ready to deploy within hours from the time of the initial call – our crews are comprised of members who (for the most part) hold the following certifications:
- Wildland and Municipally Cross-Trained
- NFPA 1001 (Levels 1 and 2)
- NFPA 1140/1051
- WUI-M
- ICS-100
- ICS-200
- NFPA 1072
- Wildfire Orientation
Several of our crew members also hold several other applicable certifications including:
- ATV/UTV
- Chainsaw
- Firetack Training
- Heli-Tack
- RAP-Attack
- Dozer Boss
To ensure continued cost-effective, reliable and immediate service to our customers, Wildcat Fire Services provides ongoing, up-to-date training with the latest technology and methods for members of our team.

Employment Opportunities
Wildcat Fire Services hires on a seasonal/on-call basis. Our employees are all required to have:
- NFPA 1001
- NFPA 1140/1051
- First Aid/CPR
- ICS-100
- TDG
- WHIMIS
- Some Firefighting Experience
We are willing to train the right candidates. You must be eligible to work in Canada (travel outside of Canada may be required – a valid passport is required), have a valid driver’s license, able to complete a mandatory PACK TEST, be able to work well in stressful situations, follow safety instructions and commit to a full rotational schedule.
Applicants with WUI-M, Heli-Tack, RAP-Attack, Dozer Boss and/or FIRETACK certifications will be given priority.
